
Welcome to Rhayader Running Club

Founded in 1984, Rhayader Running Club is a friendly, inclusive community of runners based in the heart of Mid Wales. From the rolling trails and scenic reservoirs to the quiet country lanes, we’re lucky to train and race in some of the most beautiful landscapes in Powys.
We welcome everyone—from complete beginners taking their first steps, to seasoned ultramarathoners chasing their next challenge. Whatever your pace or experience, you’ll find encouragement, friendship, and plenty of laughter along the way.
Whether your goal is to get fitter, make new friends, or smash a personal best, RRC has a place for you.
Join us for a weekly group run, try a taster session, or take on a local race with the support of a team that runs together, grows together, and celebrates every finish line.

Club Runs
Running is always better with company! At RRC we host a variety of weekly sessions to suit every ability—from complete beginners finding their rhythm, to seasoned runners looking for structured training or a long weekend run. Our sessions are relaxed, supportive, and a great way to explore the beautiful routes around Rhayader and Llandrindod while sharing miles (and smiles!) with fellow club members.

Weekly Sessions

Tuesday – Llandrindod Lake, 6:00pm

Beginners Group: ideal for C25K graduates or those returning from injury.

Club Session: ~5 miles, sociable pace (road or trail depending on season).

Wednesday – Rhayader Leisure Centre, 6:00pm

Our main focus session — fun, structured, and designed to improve your running.

Thursday – Members' Night.

Whilst there’s no leader, members can turn up and choose a route for themselves.

Sunday Social Run – 9:00am, various locations

Shorter run: 5–10km
-
Longer run: 10km+ with elevation (best for experienced runners)

Optional post-run coffee & cake

Couch to 5k
New to running? Our C25K programme is designed especially for beginners who want to take those first steps with confidence.
Following the NHS plan, we’ll help you build up gradually and safely, with encouragement and support from our experienced club members every step of the way.
Whether your goal is to improve fitness, complete your first 5K, or simply enjoy running in good company, this programme is the perfect place to start.
