NEW FOR 2026 our 5km race will be a DOWNHILL RACE!
WEDNESDAY 13th MAY 2026 7.30pm
Perfect for runners of all abilities — whether you’re new to events, just completed our C25K course, chasing a fast 5K, or simply keen to experience running in one of the most beautiful parts of Mid Wales - this is the race you need in your race calendar.
The race starts at 7.30pm close to Craig Goch reservoir (SN 89239 68640) with race number collection available from 6.00pm - 6.45pm at the registration/finish (SN 91511 67310). There is parking available at the registration/finish, the start is a 2 mile walk up the Elan Valley Trail. There will also be a minibus shuttle to the start but seats might be limited. Please try and car share as there is limited parking.
Online entries only: £12, Welsh Athletics affiliated £10, and a further £2 discount for RRC members. You must be age 14+ on race day. Online entries close at 8pm on Sunday 10th May.
The race starts on an open road, runs over Craig Goch Dam with its 360 degree stunning views then follows a downhill section of the Elan Valley trail, the final straight is back on tarmac finishing close to Ty Penbont Tearooms. The race is suitable for runners of all abilities, however is regrettably unsuitable for wheelchair athletes.
Prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd winners and male/female age category winners, presentations will take place after the race in Ty Penbont Tearooms.
Although the race is Welsh Athletics race licenced, due the descent of the route, it will not be eligible for Power of Ten results etc. Although we can assure you that it will be 5k and more importantly the descent is approximately 400ft!
